7 Signs It's Time to Replace Your Bike Chain
1. Difficulty Shifting Gears
If gear changes become slower, less precise, or inconsistent, your chain may be reaching the end of its service life.
A healthy chain meshes accurately with the cassette and chainrings, allowing smooth and reliable shifting. As the chain wears, shifting performance gradually deteriorates.
2. Persistent Clicking or Squeaking Noises
Some drivetrain noise is perfectly normal during riding.
However, if clicking or squeaking continues even after thoroughly cleaning and lubricating the chain, it may indicate excessive wear in either the chain or other drivetrain components.
