Steps to Determine Your Shoe Size

To find the right shoe size for you, all you need is a blank sheet of paper and a pen. Follow these steps:

Step 1

Wear the socks you typically use while bike riding. Place a blank sheet of paper on a hard, flat surface against a wall. Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall.

Step 2

While standing on the paper, use a pencil to trace the outline of your foot, paying special attention to the toe and heel areas.

Step 3

Flip the paper over and repeat 1,2 steps on your other foot; you will need measurements for both feet.

Step 4

For both feet, measure the distance from the heel line to the longest toe line. Compare this measurement with the size chart above to determine the correct size. If you find yourself between two sizes, round up to the larger size. If your feet are different lengths, use the longer measurement.

Steps to Determine Your Ideal Shoe Insole

Insoles come in various shapes based on brand and the shoe’s purpose, affecting width, depth, height, and overall fit. Trek and Bontrager offer shoes designed around several different insoles to meet all riding goals for maximum performance. The types includes:

  • Trek Pro Last

This last features a snug, high-performance fit optimized for the rider’s movements. It replaces the Bontrager inForm Pro insole but is slightly wider at the ball of the feet, providing a better fit for more riders.

  • Trek Comp Last

The Trek Comp last offers a performance fit with a bit more room. It replaces the Bontrager inForm Race last and has been updated to better fit riders’ feet by widening the ball of the foot.

  • Bontrager inForm
Race Last

This is a performance-fit last with a slightly roomier fit from the ball through the mid-foot.

  • Bontrager inForm Performance Last

A comfortable last with a flatter foot position, providing more versatility and utility.

  • Bontrager inForm Athletic Last

A relaxed, roomier fit similar to a cross-trainer, combining comfort for both on-bike and off-bike use.

To determine your ideal shoe insole correctly, follow these steps:

Step 1

Place your bare foot in a small amount of water, ensuring that the entire bottom of your foot is submerged in the water.

Step 2

Gently place your wet foot on a dark piece of paper so that it leaves a visible impression of your foot arch.

Step 3

Dry your foot, then compare the impression with the Trek Arch Index below to determine which of the three insole heights best fits your arch shape. Repeat these steps with your other foot.
